Wisconsin (Camp Randall Stadium)

  • The fans are out of control!  Tailgating, an amazing band, fast and slow mo wave, the "jump around," the "fifth quarter,"...nothing quite compares to Camp Randall.

Iowa State (Jack Trice Stadium)

  • Great site lines and the best tailgating north of the SEC.

Michigan (Michigan Stadium)

  • Quietest 110,000 people ever.

Florida (Ben Hill Griffin Stadium)

  • Fan excitement was at an unreal level.

Boston College (Alumni Stadium)
  • Overall a very clean and smaller type stadium. Overall problem with BC is that the student population comes in smashed in the middle of the second quarter leaving very little home field advantage actually one of the poorer college followings I've been to. Tailgate area is rather small with only privileged parking pass people capable of tailgating in the quad. Parking is extremely tight everywhere, and traffic is horrible. [My ranking] might be generous except for the fact that BC is Division 1, the stadium is clean, recently renovated and redone, and sight lines from inside the stadium are good. In fact there really isn't a bad seat in the house.

Northwestern (Ryan Field)
  • Tailgating is pretty awful, miles from the stadium, but classic college environment.  Even if your seats don't actually face the field.

  • This place is more of a wine and cheese crowd.  Fair-weather fans fill the stadium, but it is a beautiful setting and rather exciting if the team is having a good season.

Ohio State (Ohio Stadium)
  • Environment around the stadium on gameday is varied.  If you don't know anyone who tailgates, there are huge parties at Hineygate, the Varsity Club and nearly any other open space near Lane Ave.  Most of the hardcore tailgating has been unfortunately been moved across the river near the Schott, Jesse Owens Stadium etc.  Ohio Stadium itself is a sight to see.  The Rotunda on the closed end has stain glass windows, florets and arches all around the side.  The new addition betrays the original 1920's white concrete, but the inside is spectacular.  Try to sit in "A" or "C" decks, and South Stands are ok.  Check out the Skull Session in St John Arena, and be sure to be in your seat in plenty of time to see the band come down the ramp and perform the pregame routine or Script Ohio.  GO BUCKS!

Iowa (Kinnick Stadium)
  • Quite possibly the best gameday experience I can remember besides my school!

Texas (Memorial Stadium)
  • Kind of a strange stadium.  Tailgating is full of awesome smoky smells!

Indiana (Memorial Stadium)
  • The only way this place ever gets a high score is when OSU comes to town and sells it out and occasionally tears down the goal posts!

Purdue (Ross-Ade Stadium)
  • Gameday atmosphere was spread out on any patch of grass you could squeeze a car onto within a mile or so.  Nearby, the "All American Marching Band" performed in an outdoor amphitheater before the game and added to the scene.  The paved lots near the stadium were crammed full of cars, tents and tailgating as one would expect.  The renovated exterior (i.e, brick wall around the outside) is a vast improvement over the former erector set appearance.  Inside, the fans were all decked in black, but at least 20,000 of the 65k were OSU fans, which dulled the home field advantage significantly.  Fun environment to attend a game in, and at first it was loud, but fortunately for the visitors (i.e, OSU) it was quickly silenced.

Northern Illinois (Huskie Stadium)
  • BEST MID MAJOR STADIUM IN THE USA!!!!!!!!!!! GO HUSKIES!!!!!!

Virginia (Scott Stadium)
  • Beautiful stadium and fantastic gameday atmosphere.
