Football
is not the sport of choice at the University of Cincinnati. Basketball
dominates in this area mainly due to its success rate compared to football.
Yet, Bearcat fans have much to be proud of with their program. To
begin with, they have a beautiful facility in Nippert Stadium.
Cincinnati has been playing at this site since 1902. It is the fourth
oldest playing site in college football. Their team is nothing to
scoff at, as well. Labeled a giant killer, the Bearcats have knocked
off Wisconsin and Syracuse at Nippert in recent years. In addition,
they are becoming a more regular fixture in the post season. Nippert
Stadium is a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon. The stadium is
somewhat hidden by a mix of unique modern and charming old campus buildings,
which make for a cozy atmosphere. There is a walkway around the
stadium just above the upper deck where vendors sell souvenirs and
concessions. With this amenity, fans can grab a snack and still view
the game, much like many baseball stadiums across the country. Most
recently, the university has added a pre-game party called "CATTITUDE."
The UC band and Bearcat mascot are just a few more notable components of
gameday. With the Bearcats move into the Big East conference, more
fans across the country will be able to witness this classic stadium with
its savored history and forward moving future.
