Houston - 34
Southern Miss - 20

GAME  STORY for
S. MISS vs. HOUSTON 2006

12/2/06

My U of H Cougars are going to the Liberty Bowl after beating Southern Miss in the Conference USA Championship Game. I was at the game and enjoyed it immensely. We trailed at halftime 17 - 13. The first half ended with UH on the S. Miss one yard line, but the S. Miss team sat/layed on our players and the half ended before we could make the line of scrimmage. The crowd was outraged and we booed the refs and even the S. Miss marching band. The fans were merciless.  And the Cougars were merciless in the second half, especially on defense, which became hard as nails. UH held S. Miss to one field goal, and the offense scored 21 points, including a 45 yard run by our quarterback. The final score was a 34 - 20 victory. I think our quarterback, Kevin Kolb, has a chance in the NFL.
There is also a chance that UH will play Kentucky in the Liberty Bowl. That would be an interesting game.
Attendance for the UH v. S. Miss game was 31,818, standing room only.  Although a small crowd for the big conferences, it was good for our program. It was loud, we never sat down. :o)  I love college football.

GAME STORY for
OHIO STATE @ PENN STATE 2005

10/18/07

There are a few really memorable Penn State games in Beaver stadium, but one of the most memorable has to be the Penn State vs. Ohio State game 2 years ago when game day made their first appearance in Happy Valley. No one was giving Penn State a chance to knock off the buckeyes but with the fans doing the bounce and the cheering starting well before game time till well after the game was over - the Lions did it! It's why ESPN has named the Beaver Stadium and Penn State football the greatest show in college football!

The whiteout this year against Notre Dame was an awesome day as well. The game did not have as much significance - other than we needed to get revenge for the shellacking they gave us in South Bend the year before. And we did! But the crowd was awesome for that game - alumni and students wore their white and being in the stadium gave 'em goose bumps!
